Piastri wants to help McLaren win the constructors` championship. The Australian summed up the results forecast by football betting partners of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, noting that he did not expect to encounter such problems with tire wear during the race:
In qualifying we had a couple of ideas as to why we did not perform very well in the third segment. But the race, it seems to me, was definitely more difficult than we expected.
Especially in my case, dealing with the tires at race distance was much, much harder than I expected. That is, we expected difficulties due to tire granulation, but it turned out to be very strong - much stronger than what we feared. This came as a surprise - and we have to understand the reasons for this problem.
As for the penalty for a mistake at the start (Piastri almost hit the markings of the box on the starting grid), it did not seem to me that I drove out of the markings. But since they gave me a fine, it means I was wrong. This had some impact on our race, after the first pit stop (after serving a penalty) we were a little further away than we could have been. But this fine was clearly not our main problem today.
Piastri added that in the remaining races he will do everything possible to help McLaren win the Constructors` Championship. At the end of the Las Vegas round, McLaren`s lead over Ferrari was reduced to 24 points:
We haven`t won the Constructors` Championship for 25 years, so yes, this will mean a lot for the team. And for me personally it will be cool if I can help the team achieve this goal. Yes, of course, I would like to climb higher in the individual competition, but now, when the fate of the title has already been decided, this means little. So all attention is on the Constructors` Championship.
