Former Formula 1 driver Karun Chadok shared his opinion on what to expect from the fight in the championship in the new season.


Chandok assessed the chances of teams from the middle of the peloton to make a leap forward and join the fight of the leaders.


In the 2022 season, the gap between McLaren and Alpin from Ferrari`s pace in qualifying averaged 1. 25% and 1. 37%, respectively. In the context of Formula 1, this is a significant gap, which usually means landing on the fourth row of the grid.


However, Ferrari managed to improve between seasons by 0. 7% two years in a row, and as a result made the leap from the middle of the peloton in 2020 to the lead (in terms of speed) in 2022. This shows that with the right resources and brains, anything is possible.


Alpine had reliability problems last year, but the car itself was fast. They managed to work especially well on improving the car as the season progressed, and by the end of the championship predicted by betting football contact Alpin was consistently ahead of Lando Norris`s McLaren.


Among the teams from the middle of the peloton, in my opinion, Aston Martin attracts special attention. The team was not at all where they expected it to be at the start of last season. And they had to change the concept of the car right during the championship, choosing the Red Bull option.


Lawrence Stroll and Martin Whitmarsh have been aggressive in recruiting over the last two years, and this year could be the time to reap the rewards. At the end of last season, Aston Martin seemed to be making good progress. So they too may have the opportunity to take a leap forward and be ahead of both Alpine and McLaren, " Chandhok said.
